Timeline Examples for a Big Sur Elopement

If you want to elope in Big Sur but you’re not sure what a full day or multi day timeline would look like then this post is for you. I’ve put together an example of an 8 hour timeline and a 12 hour multi day timeline below to help you visualize what the experience could look like. I always create fully custom timelines for each couple that works with me, so these are just examples to give you some ideas and are totally adjustable if you want to include something different or structure your day a little differently!

8 Hour Timeline

This timeline is one consecutive 8 hour day assuming the sun sets around 7pm so that our day can lead us right into sunset.

11:00am: We’ll start off at your Airbnb or hotel for some detail and getting ready shots. We’ll play some music, maybe drink some champagne or mimosas, and get the vibes started!

12:30pm: We’ll do a first look at a nice little scenic spot on the property and you can also do a little gift exchange if that’s something that you’d like to incorporate into your day.

1:00pm: Head into the redwoods for some exploring. This is where you can do some light hiking, enjoy the outdoors, and have some portraits taken in the redwoods.

3:00pm: Head over to Garrapata State Park for your ceremony! You’ll have your ceremony on a beautiful cliffside overlooking the ocean and then you can explore the cliffs a bit and have some photos taken with the dramatic scenery.

4:30pm: We’ll make our way down to the beach in Garrapata State Park where you can cut some cake, pop champagne, have a first dance, and celebrate!

6:00pm: We’ll take advantage of the beautiful golden hour/sunset light for some beautiful beach shots.

7:00pm: We’ll part ways and you can continue your night with a dinner celebration or however else you’d like to end your elopement day!

Multi Day Timeline

This timeline will be 12 hours split across 2 days and is a great option if you want to include guests but you also want some time to yourselves as well.

Day 1:

1:00pm: We’ll start this off the same way at your Airbnb for detail and getting ready shots.

2:30pm: First look on the property and private gift exchange, or an intimate vow exchange if you want to exchange vows that are more private than the ones you will be sharing with guests.

3:00pm: Get in the car and head to Garrapata State Park for your ceremony! You’ll have your ceremony on the cliffs overlooking the ocean, and then explore the cliffs and take photos with your guests.

5:00pm: Head to the beach in Garrapata State Park to celebrate, cut some cake, pop some champagne, play music and dance with your guests, splash around in the ocean, or however else you’d like to celebrate! We’ll also get some golden hour/sunset photos done around this time.

7:00pm: Head back to your Airbnb where you will have a private chef waiting for you and your guests and have a dinner party to continue the celebration with your closest people!

9:00pm: After some candids at the dinner party and maybe some starry night/campfire photos if your Airbnb allows for it we’ll part ways and end Day 1 here.

Day 2:

12:00pm: After a slow morning recovering from last night’s celebration we’ll meet back up again but this time in the redwoods. We’ll do some light hiking/exploring in the redwoods and get some more portraits done to commemorate your first full day as newlyweds!

2:00pm: We’ll head down highway 1 and take some fun photos at different viewpoints on the side of the road.

3:00pm: We’ll end up at a scenic restaurant like Nepenthe for some lunch, taking in the views and enjoying the scenery.

4:00pm: We’ll part ways here and I’ll get started on your sneak peeks 🙂
